My relations
As I connect to my cultural relations I am reminded of my Tlingit lineage.
The connection was shared by family knowledge keepers, my Nan, our ancestors, and spirits whose teachings continue to shape who we become. Within us lives their strength, their stories, their struggles, and their love.
The details within the design are to show different aspects of my identity. The Chilkat face represents the generations before me, my generation now and the future generations.
Finding my footing
As as Artist this design represents the moment I began trusting myself as an artist. Through this design, I discovered how to shape and fill space in a way that felt natural to me, allowing the formline to become something I could truly call my own.
What began as experimentation became a turning point in my creative journey! A design that gave me the confidence to keep creating, evolving, and bringing my artwork into clothing. It remains one of the designs I am most proud of because it reminds me of the moment I found my own confidence within the art.
Woven w Curiosity
Inspired by the intricate patterns and visual language of Chilkat weaving, reflecting my fascination with how individual lines, shapes, and wool can come together to create something greater than themselves.
This design was created through curiosity! Studying, exploring, and allowing that inspiration to guide my own artistic medium. In hopes of one day learning how to weave.
